Kindergarten

We’ve developmentally designed our Kindy school programs to complement your child’s school curricula perfectly. Our supportive, dynamic, and rich learning environment helps set them up as independent, lifelong learners who are both confident in the classroom and focussed on maximising their results.

How we help students succeed

  • Easy access to resources

We’ve developed unique Capra content for Maths, English and Science at every level, designed to boost your learning. It includes lesson and homework material, comprehensive exam resources, video solutions to questions, English text booklet notes, and more.

  • Weekend Workshops

Need a quiet place to get your work done? Our centre is open every weekend, so you can come in to do your homework, ask questions, or get targeted help from qualified facilitators.

  • Exam specific prep

At exam time, it’s not enough to understand the concepts behind your schoolwork. You also need to feel confident applying them in high-pressure exam conditions. Our high school tutors can guide you to do your very best with study plans that help you peak at the right time, exam-specific content revision and mock exams.

Our Kindy Courses

In English class, we’ll cover the fundamentals of reading, writing, listening and speaking and encourage students to read widely. Our program emphasises the sound (phonology), sight, and construction (morphemes) of words, vocabulary building, and visual literacy.

Exploring and becoming fluent in maths in early development puts your child on track for a successful future. We’ll help get them started on their way with a practical, hands-on introduction to recognising, describing and solving mathematical ideas and problems.

What our Kindy students develop

Introduction to reading

Recognising simple sight words and alphabet sounds is crucial to your child’s early learning success. We’ll teach them to recognise syllables and sounds in spoken words and how to spell some common words accurately.

Writing skills

We’ll teach your child basic writing skills, including how to hold a pencil, good posture and hand movements, writing simple sentences and understanding punctuation basics.

Greater confidence at school

Your child will learn appropriate and effective in-class communications to help them express ideas clearly, present short, descriptive talks, how to stay on topic and how to ask for help when they need it.

Numerical literacy

We support your child in learning mathematical basics, including counting aloud to 30 and recognising numbers from 0 to 20, adding and subtracting, using counters, understanding money, telling the time and identifying shapes.

Lesson Breakdown

We ensure your child masters a concept before moving onto the next. One-to-one lessons and small classes focus on each student’s unique learning habits so they can achieve their goals at their own pace. As their knowledge builds, and they can acquire, process and understand new ideas and concepts, class learning speeds up to work ahead of school curricular and maximise results.

  • Reflect.

Together we’ll revisit any Capra homework you’ve found difficult and reinforce what you learned last lesson. Working memory decays fast, so we’ll use this time to solidify your knowledge for the longer term and ensure you’ve mastered it before moving to the next concept.

  • Theorise.

Your tutor will introduce new concepts for the week based on your prior knowledge and level of mastery. We like to do this in a hands-on and interactive way, so you’re fully engaged with the subject matter.

  • Review.

At the end of the lesson, we’ll assess how you’ve understood the new concepts covered and if you can apply your newfound knowledge in practice with minimal support. This ensures you can complete your homework for the week.
